Studio1848. is committed to providing a digital experience that is accessible, inclusive, and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities.

Standards We Follow

We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 AA across studio1848.com, our interactive dashboards (Tableau, Flourish), and PDFs.
Color choices in charts and UI components meet or exceed 4.5:1 contrast; hatch patterns supplement color where categories exceed three.
We aim for every image or chart to include alt-text (≤ 120 characters); complex infographics should carry long-descriptions.
Audio and video content ships with closed captions and human-edited transcripts within 72 hours of posting.

Compatibility

The site is tested on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, with screen-reader checks in NVDA (Windows) and VoiceOver (macOS/iOS).

Known Limitations

Historical PDFs (pre-2025) may lack proper reading order.
Third-party embeds (e.g., GitHub Gists) may not inherit our focus styling.
We are actively remediating both issues.

Analytics: Self-hosted (Ecuador)
No sale of personal data, ever.

We sign data-processing agreements and require providers to meet or exceed LOPDP and GDPR safeguards.

5. Data Retention

Newsletter contacts: until you unsubscribe or after 24 months of inactivity.
Analytics logs: 14 months, then aggregated.
Fellowship applications: 12 months after decision.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may:

Access, correct, or delete your data.
Withdraw consent at any time (unsubscribe link in every email).
Object to processing or request portability.
Lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

7. Children’s Privacy

Our content targets audiences 16 years and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16; if we learn we have, we will delete it.

HTTPS across entire site.
Google Sheet datasets are read-only and stripped of personal identifiers.
Two-factor authentication on all admin accounts.

9. Updates to This Policy

We will post changes here and, if substantive, email registered users 14 days before they take effect.
